From December 1 on all brands of gasoline out from the SINOPEC ZRCC will conform to national standard GB-III, one month earlier than the date stipulated by the national authorities, said Jiang Zhenghong, GM of the ZRCC at a work meeting of the SINOPEC.
Compared with the GB-II gasoline, the GB-III has higher requirements on sulphur content, benzene content and olefin content. The state authorities required that the GB-III standard is to be implemented across the country from Jan 1, 2010.
“This makes it more difficult to produce gasoline”, said Jiang Zhenghong. But they believe that to provide green products is their social responsibility and should be the voluntary conduct of the company.
To reach the GB-III standard within the year, the ZRCC made concrete plans to upgrade the quality. On October 28 the first batch of 2000 tons of gasoline 97# came out and was shipped out. In addition, ZRCC has set up a gas-desulfurization installation of 1.5 million tons per annum with investment of 280 million yuan. By the end of November, the company has managed to make the product reach GB-III standard.
It is learned that SINOPEC is preparing for GB-4 and GB-4 upgrading and that the former has been basically completed
