In 2011, Ningbo had its GDP reaching 601.048 billion yuan, increased by 10.0% above the previous year calculated by comparable price. This figure doubles figure (287.44 billion) of 2006. In 2007, Ningbo’s GDP broke through 300 billion; in 2009, 400 billion; in 2010, 500 billion. In short, Ningbo’s GDP has broken through the 100 billion yuan make for successively four years.

In the five years after the 11th Ningbo Municipal Congress of Party Representatives, in face of the global financial crisis, Ningbo deepened the practice of the scientific development outlook, accelerated adjusting the modes of economic growth, and made steady progress toward the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and a modern international port city.

Ningbo is turning itself into a city powerful in the construction industry. According to Ningbo Housing Construction Committee, in 2011 Ningbo ranks No.1 in Zhejiang in the growth of construction industry. In terms of the output value of the industry, Ningbo is among the top three of the province.

The statistics show that in 2011 the output of the construction industry of Ningbo reaches 192.5 billion yuan, surpassing Jinhua for the first time. For the output, Ningbo is only next to Shaoxing and Hangzhou. In 2011, the total output value of the industry increased by 35.8%, 13.5 points higher than the average growth rate of the industry of Zhejiang and for the growth rate, Ningbo ranks the first in Zhejiang.

Statistics show that in 2011, the added value of the construction industry reached 33.06 billion yuan, breaking through the 30 billion yuan mark for the first time. The added value of the construction industry accounts for 5.50% of the GDP with its contribution rate to the economic growth reaching 5.87%. Cooperating with a leading cultural company of China, Ningbo is going to build a cultural and creative production base in Ningbo Hangzhou Bay New Area. The other day, Ningbo Hangzhou Bay New Area signed an agreement with Shenzhen Huaqiang Holdings Limited on a cultural creative park project.

According to the framework agreement, the two parties will refer to the urban functional layout and industrial concept of Orlando and build a cultural industrial base that has functionality of cultural creativity, scientific studies and recreation.

The park will be on to the west of Hangzhou Bay Bridge. The construction will start this September. It is planned that the park will capable of receiving at least 6 million visitors every year

The light snow of the Chinese New Year’s Eve made little impact on the vegetable supply during the Festival. On January 23, with the weather turning clear, wholesalers from all over the country poured in Ningbo Vegetable Wholesale Market, and the total transaction of vegetables reached over 1380 tons, an increase of 7.3% over the same period last year. Of over one hundred varieties of vegetables, only three to four kinds rose in price while others all maintained the same price level as before the Festival.  

Although it is the Spring Festival, there are still lots of citizens purchasing vegetables in supermarkets. In the Jiangdong shop of CRV supermarket, the prices of such vegetables as broccoli, celery, cabbage and radish remain the same as days before, and some vegetables are even on membership sale. According to a person in charge of the supermarket, they have reserved about ten kinds of vegetables, including 15 tons of broccoli, 15 tons of bamboo shoots and 10 tons of celery, which not only ensures the adequate supply of vegetables during the Spring Festival period but also guarantees the same price level as that before the festival.  

On the noon of January 23, in Ningbo Vegetable Wholesale Market, large trucks loaded with vegetables and purchasing tricycles and pickups can be seen now and then. A person in charge of the purchasing department of Sanjiang Supermarket said that their purchase had completed two days before. But considering the citizens’ need for fresh vegetables would surely increase after January 25, they were making further reservations these two days as the weather was fine. It is learned that on January 23, the total transaction of vegetables of the wholesale market reached over 1380 tons and there were about 100 kinds of vegetables involved, both increased slightly compared with the same period last year.

“Since one week ago before the festival, we have completed the 5000 tons of dynamic reserve of vegetables, which can guarantee one week’s need of the public.” said a person in charge of the transaction sector of the wholesale market.

Apart from the vegetables, the wholesale for the meat and poultry and the aquatic products decreased by about 15%. According to a related person, that is because the demand for these two kinds of products is small as the consumers have made adequate purchase before the festival, and it is estimated that the demand will return to the normal after the Lantern Festival

According to the authoritative data issued by Ningbo Survey Group of the National Statistics Bureau, in 2011, the rural per capita net income stood at 16518 yuan, up by 15.8% over the previous year. While the urban resident per capita income reached 34058 yuan, up by 12.9%. With the rural income achieving double-digit growth for eight consecutive years, the urban-rural income ratio is further reduced to 2.062:1.

Promoting the steady increase of rural income is the starting point and ultimate goal of the new rural construction. On the one hand, industries, populations and producing elements are guided to assemble in towns to promote the famers to transfer to the second industry and third industry. Taking the scarce jobs and high-skill training that are in great demand in markets and industries as a breakthrough, the city focused on the transfer skills training of the farmers. At the same time, the “one training for one industry” approach was adopted to train the subjects of modern agriculture business. In 2011, about 118,700 rural laborers were trained, among which 29,500 were trained in transfer skills and 52,000 were trained in migrant workers’ job skills. About 23,000 rural laborers achieved transfer employment after training.

In 2011, the leading agricultural enterprises in Ningbo took in 150,800 rural employees and about 898,200 rural households were affected. 1700 specialized farmers cooperatives in the city affected 350,000 rural households. While working in enterprises, a large number of rural workers set up some new forms of industries such as intermediary services, chain business, rural community services and agritainments. In 2011, the “agritainments” received 11.918 million tourists and achieved a business income of 1.13 billion yuan, up by 31.6% and 41.1% respectively over the previous year. In terms of the structure of the income, the salary income continued to growth rapidly and reached 9667 yuan per capita, up by 19.0% over the previous year, contributing 68.3% to the increase of the net income.

With the development of the rural housing reform and rural joint-stock reform, more and more famers benefit from the soaring of property income and dividend income. In 2011, a total investment of 12.991 billion yuan was put into the reconstruction of 78,100 rural houses, of which the construction of 48,100 houses with a total area of 6.53 million square meters has been completed. So far, as there have been 548 rural economic cooperatives, the total dividend for farmers reached 1.33 billion yuan or 198.2 yuan per capita. Some farmers even become landlords or share holders by selling or letting their extra houses. All the above elements promoted the increase of the non-business rural net income, which amounted to 2937 yuan, an increase of 46.6% over the previous year, contributing 41.4% to the increase of the net income.

In 2012, Jiangbei is to have a new wave of development. According to updated information, the 12 projects on the north banks of the Yongjiang River and the Yaojiang River have started in an overall way and the investment in the 12th Five-Year-Plan Period will amount to about 80 billion yuan.

Statistics from Zhejiang Provincial Statistics Bureau on January 20 shows that in 2011, Ningbo’s GDP exceeds 600 billion yuan, standing at 601.048 billion yuan, up by 10.0% over the previous year in terms of the comparable prices.

News came from Ningbo Survey Group of the National Statistics Bureau on January 21 that according to a sample survey of 600 households, the per capita disposable income of urban residents in 2011 reached 34,058 yuan, up by 12.9% over the previous year.

In terms of the income composition, all incomes but property income increased. Specifically speaking, the per capita salary income amounted to 24280 yuan, an increase by 11.5% over the previous year. It is still the decisive factor of the income increase by accounting for 57.1% of the increase in disposable income and contributing 62.7% to the family total income. The per capita business income reached 3997 yuan, an increase of 21.0% over the previous year, contributing 10.3% to the family total income and accounting for 15.8% of the increase in disposable income. The per capita property income reduced to 1439 yuan, down by 31.3% over the previous year, accounting for 3.7% of the family total income and accounting for negative 14.9% of the increase in disposable income. The per capita transfer income amounted to 9003 yuan, up by 25.8% over the previous year, accounting for 23.3% of the family total income and contributing 42.0% to the increase in disposable income, which enabled it to stand in the second place among all the composing elements of the total income.

Another sample survey of 1000 rural households made by the group showed that in 2011 the rural per capita net income in Ningbo reached 16,518 yuan, an increase of 15.8% over the previous year.

In 2010, the total output of industries of Ningbo for the first time exceeded 1,000 billion yuan. From January to November last year, the gross value of industrial output of large enterprises of Ningbo amounts to 1,075.3 billion yuan, increased by 19.5% over the precious year.

The statistics show that from January to November last year, the industrial added value of large enterprises reaches 216.4 billion yuan, 12% more than the previous year; the profit tax reaches 106.32 billion yuan and the profit totals 57.13 billion yuan, increased by 10.8% and 4.9% respectively. The total score of the 11 economic indicators is 279.7 points, 13 points more than the same period of the previous year.

From January and November, the amount of sales of the large enterprises of Ningbo increased by 20%, of which the sales value of the internal market increased by 24.7%, covering 76.7% of the total industrial sales value, 2.9 points higher than the same period of the last year. The situation of over reliance on the international market has been basically changed.

From January to October last year, the profit tax and profit of the 220 key enterprises monitored by Ningbo Municipal Economic Information Commission increased by 22.1% and 22.2% respectively, 4.8 and 8.9 points higher than the average. The output value of new products of the industrial enterprises above the designated size increased by 27.4%, 7.9 points higher than production growth rate.

In June last year, The negative growth of industrial investment that had lasted for 12 months came to an end. By the end of November last year, The industrial investment completed reached 59.34 billion yuan, increased by 5.1% over the precious year, making a new high since 2008.
